Most non-Apple phones and tablets run Android. If you have a smartphone and it isn't an iPhone, this is almost certainly you.

iPhones and iPads run iOS. Install from the App Store, sign in, and iOS will ask you once to allow the VPN configuration. That prompt is normal.

Pick your platform. Every one of these takes under five minutes.
Go to the software page and download the Windows installer. Your browser may warn you about running downloaded programs. That warning appears for every installer on the internet.
Double-click the file you downloaded. Windows will ask whether you want to allow the app to make changes to your device. Choose Yes. A VPN needs this permission to create the network adapter it routes your traffic through.
Partway through, Windows may ask permission to install a network adapter or driver. Approve it. Without that adapter there's nothing for the tunnel to run over.
Open Lux VPN and enter your username and password.
Choose a location from the list and hit connect. If you just want the fastest option, pick something geographically near you. Every location is included in your plan, so there's nothing locked off.
In settings, enable the Kill Switch. If the VPN connection ever drops, it cuts your internet rather than quietly letting your traffic out unprotected. Windows is the only platform where this is available, so it's worth doing here.
Grab the macOS version from the software page. It arrives as a .dmg disk image.
Open the .dmg and drag the Lux VPN icon into your Applications folder, then eject the disk image.
The first launch may warn that the app was downloaded from the internet. If macOS refuses to open it outright, go to System Settings, then Privacy and Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway.
macOS will ask permission to add a VPN configuration and prompt for your Mac password or Touch ID. That prompt comes from macOS, not from us, and it only happens once.
Enter your credentials, pick a location, and connect. A VPN indicator appears in your menu bar while you're connected.

Enter your username and password on the sign-in screen.
iOS will pop up a box saying the app would like to add VPN configurations, and ask for Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode. Tap Allow. Every VPN app on iOS does this. iOS requires it before any app is permitted to route your traffic.
Choose a location and tap connect. A small VPN badge appears at the top of your screen and stays there while you're connected.
iOS keeps the tunnel up in the background, so you don't need to reopen the app after a restart. Glancing at the VPN badge is the quickest way to confirm you're still connected.

Enter your username and password.
Android shows a dialog headed Connection request, warning that the app wants to set up a VPN connection. Tap OK. This is Android's standard permission screen and it appears for every VPN app.
Choose a location and connect. A key icon appears in your status bar while the tunnel is up.
In Android's own settings, under Network and internet, then VPN, you can mark Lux VPN as Always-on VPN. Your phone will reconnect automatically after every restart. The exact menu path varies a little between manufacturers.

Typing a password on a TV remote is miserable. If your phone has the remote app for your device, use its keyboard instead of the on-screen one.
Fire TV and Android TV show the same VPN connection request dialog that Android phones do. Select OK.
Choose your location, connect, then back out to the home screen. The tunnel stays up while you use other apps.
